Adopt a Priest

It is said that the Devil told St. John Vianney, "If there were three such priests as you, my kingdom [in France] would be ruined." If there were just 1000 priests like St. John Vianney worldwide, how many souls would be saved? Your spiritually adopted priest is your special priest to aid with prayer and sacrifice in becoming holy. If each of us prays persistently for one priest, maybe we will have a few more priests today like St. John Vianney. The consecration at Holy Mass is a special time to pray for your adopted priest, especially if you have just recieved the Sacrament of Penance.

Also, here is a suggestion on how to pray for priests:

Below are a few links you can use to spiritually adopt a priest or you can adopt one you know and slip a note of encouragement under his door saying you are praying for him

From the Handmaids of the Precious Blood. With this site you will recieve a prayer card with your spiritually adopted priest and you are required to say the short prayer each day. You can also do more for your priest.

You will recieve a the name of a randomly selected preist along with a certificate of adoption of your priest and a prayer card with a suggested daily prayer. You are also enrolled in a weekly email prayer program

"A vocation comes from the heart of God, but goes through the heart of the mother."

------St. Pope Pius X

If you are a women and wish to give your vocation to praying for a priest, in other words if you want to spiritually offer your life up for a priest, you might concider becoming a spiritual mother of a priest.

(I am only able to find the Spiritual Motherhood of Priests contact information for Ottawa, Canada diocese, but perhaps contact them for information including how to contact the Spiritual Motherhood of Priests in your Diocese
