Remember Lapanto!

Today, when the devil seems to be let loose on the world, in a way, even in the Church, let us remember Lapano. Lapanto was the Catholic response to the Muslims who were taking over Christian towns and torturing the captives. Lapanto was not solely a battle of arms, but also a battle of the rosary in defense of the Catholic Faith. Even as the Muslims seemed to have a sure victory, Pope Pius V led the Catholic world in a Rosary Crusade. The Pope encourage the Catholic world to say the rosary and said as much of the rosary as possible without disregarding his responsibilities. Farther more, it is said that even in the midst of battle, the knights slung the rosaries over their shoulders and kept praying. 
Let us remember Lapanto. In this world when the Church seems to be falling into ruin, let us again turn to the rosary. Let us ask Mary's assistance for the Church and the priests whose vocation it is to lead us in this spiritual battle. When we feel discouraged or just don't want to pray anymore, let us remember Lapanto!
